For this edition of A Taste of Vinyl, host MF Andrade, DJ El Javier_B and Cinema Colombiano take us on a musical journey through obscure vinyl, moving between tropical Caribbean rhythms, cosmic Afro beats, salsa and vintage Latin sounds.
The evening starts as a listening session, with space to settle in, listen closely and discover new sounds together. As the night progresses, the tables can make way for a little more dancing and the Kantine shifts from a listening room to a dance floor, opened by Yoanna and Sebastiaan from Cinema Colombiano.
El Javier will also bring a small snack to share with the audience: a little taste to go with the music.
The programme is part of OASE’s programming around Día de Muertos, celebrating and sharing Mexican culture through music, food and gathering.

El Javier_B (Javier Bohorquez) is a Rotterdam-based DJ, vinyl collector and musician originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela. His sets move between tropical Caribbean rhythms, cosmic Afro beats, salsa and vintage Latin vinyl.
Javier is a resident at Operator Radio and Radio WORM, where he hosts CREMA Tropical Noise. He is also part of Rotterdam-based psychedelic tropical band Lola’s Dice.
El Javier_B has previously played at OASE with La Saramuya Soundsystem and has also taken over the decks during FAROFFA.
Since 2015 Cinema Colombiano organizes the annual film festival CINEMA COLOMBIANO, in WORM Rotterdam and, since 2021, also in Cavia Amsterdam. Aside from films, they are music lovers, resulting in the event series INTERRUPCIÓN and the 2024 DOOOMBIA FEST. They also release recordings on cassette. Cinema Colombiano Radio is live bi-weekly on RADIO WORM: every other Wednesday at 4pm CET. Cinema Colombiano is also home to the Dooombiamberos: an experimental cumbia group located in Rotterdam.

Each edition, host and OASE programmer MF Andrade invites a guest to share an hour of their favourite vinyl records. Records that hold memories, shape them, or carry cultural meaning. Together with the audience, we listen, reflect and enter into conversation.
MF Andrade is also the co-founder of FAROFFA, a Rotterdam-based movement that honours the mix of tastes between Cabo Verde and Brasil. As a DJ and cultural connector, MF Andrade creates evenings where different scenes, generations and stories meet.
