Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is Mexico’s day of remembrance and joy. A night to honour those who’ve passed with food, music, stories and colour. It is a time to honour those who’ve passed by welcoming their memory back through food, flowers, music and shared stories. The altar (ofrenda) is at the heart of it all, filled with photos, candles and offerings that keep connections alive across generations. It’s similar to other global traditions that honour ancestors, and it reminds us that those we’ve lost still dance with us, just on a different frequency.
